Troubleshooting no service
If your phone shows "No service" or no signal bars, your line can't reach the network yet. This guide walks you through fixing it on Warp, Light Speed, and Dark Star. Most issues clear up in a couple of minutes.
If you have signal but your data isn't working, see Troubleshooting mobile data instead.
Try this first
A few quick checks clear up most no-service issues, whatever network or phone you're on:
- Restart your phone.
- Turn airplane mode on, wait a few seconds, then turn it off.
- Update to the latest iOS or Android version.
- Turn off data roaming.
- Connect to Wi-Fi so you can reach our setup tool and support if you need them.
- Make sure you're using the correct SIM or eSIM for your network.
- Make sure your device is unlocked. Only unlocked phones work with US Mobile. If you're not sure, check with wherever you bought it.
- Make sure VoLTE is turned on. On iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data. On Android, go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks and turn on VoLTE.
Still no service? Set up your APN settings below.
Set up your APN settings
Most no-service issues after activating or switching networks come down to your APN (Access Point Name) settings — the configuration that tells your phone how to connect. These are usually set automatically, but if they didn't load, you can fix them with our APN setup tool.
The tool gives you the exact settings for your network, so pick your phone below.
- iPhone
- Android
On iPhone, you'll install a profile that applies the settings for you.
- Open Safari on your iPhone and go to usmobile.com/apn-download.
- Choose iOS and your network, then select Download APN.
- Select Download when prompted to download the profile.
- Once the download is complete, open your downloads, open the file, select the share button, then Save to Files.
- Open the Files app and select the downloaded file. Close the Profile Downloaded message.
- Go to Settings > General and select VPN & Device Management.
- Select the downloaded APN Profile, then select Install in the top-right corner.
- Turn airplane mode on, then off, and test your service.
On Android, you'll enter the settings the tool shows you.
- Go to usmobile.com/apn-download.
- Select Android, then your network (Warp, Light Speed, or Dark Star).
- Select View APN Setup Guide to view the exact settings.
- On your phone, go to Settings > Connections / Network & Internet > Mobile Networks / Cellular networks > Access Point Names.
- Add a new APN and enter the settings exactly as shown in the tool. Select each value to copy it.
- Save the APN and make sure it's selected.
- Turn airplane mode on, then off, and test your service.
Enter every value exactly as shown — including capitalization, spacing, and punctuation. An incorrect value fails silently: your line may show signal but stay offline, with no error to point you to the problem.
After your APN settings are in place, check that your network mode is set to 5G (5G Auto or 5G On) on Warp, Light Speed, and Dark Star.
On iPhone, this is under Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data. On Android, it's under Settings > Connections / Network & Internet > Mobile Networks > Preferred network type.
On Dark Star, if your hotspot won't turn on, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Private DNS and turn it off, then try again. If it still won't connect, add these two fields to your Dark Star APN: MVNO type: GID and MVNO value: 20FF.
Prefer to enter your APN settings manually?
You can find the full list of APN settings for every network on our List of APN settings page.
Still stuck? Reset your network settings
Resetting clears saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth pairings, but it often fixes stubborn connection problems.
- iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Android: Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Mobile Network Settings.
After resetting, restart your phone and set up your APN settings again using the steps above.
Resetting removes saved Wi-Fi passwords on some phones.
