Data and text controls
With US Mobile, you have granular control over your line's data usage right in the app. Whether you want to block data, slow down usage, or stream videos in HD, you can do it all from your dashboard.
Only the account owner and admins can access Usage Management features on a line. If you have a Contributor or Viewer account, contact the account owner or an admin to make changes.
These features turn off automatically at the end of your 30-day cycle. To use them in the next cycle, turn them on again.
Data Saver
Turning Data Saver on slows down your data speed, which helps reduce overall data consumption. It's a good fit for anyone who cares more about managing usage than speed.
Here's how to turn it on from the app:
- Go to your Lines dashboard.
- Select the line you want to turn on Data Saver for.
- Under Line Settings, open the Usage & Controls menu and select Usage Management.
- Turn on Data Saver and select Confirm Changes.
Data Blocker
Turning Data Blocker on turns off cellular data for the line entirely. It's useful for anyone who wants a temporary break from cellular data.
Here's how to turn off data from the app:
- Go to your Lines dashboard.
- Select the line you want to block data for.
- Under Line Settings, open the Usage & Controls menu and select Usage Management.
- Turn on Data Blocker and select Confirm Changes.
Data Waster
By default, videos stream at 480p — a good balance between quality and data use. Turning Data Waster on raises video streaming to HD (1080p, 4K, and above). Keep in mind that turning on Data Waster increases your data usage.
Here's how to turn it on from the app:
- Go to your Lines dashboard.
- Select the line you want to turn on Data Waster for.
- Under Line Settings, open the Usage & Controls menu and select Usage Management.
- Turn on Data Waster and select Confirm Changes.
Pausing or blocking texts
You can block a line from sending or receiving texts over the cellular network.
Messages sent and received over Wi-Fi (like WhatsApp, iMessage, and Signal) are not affected — those rely on the internet, not the cellular network.
Here's how to turn off texts from the web app:

- Select the line you want to block texts on.
- Under Line Settings, open the Usage & Controls menu and select Usage Management.
- Turn on Text Block and select Confirm Changes.
Text blocking turns off automatically at the end of your 30-day cycle. To use it in the next cycle, turn it on again.
