Moving or transferring lines
Moving your line from one device to another is straightforward whether you're using a physical SIM card or an eSIM. This article walks you through both options.
Moving a line on a physical SIM card
If your phone is unlocked and compatible with US Mobile, remove the SIM card from your old device and insert it into the new one.
If the SIM card size is different, you can adjust it using the size adapters included with your original SIM — just pop out the right size and insert it into your phone.
If you no longer have the adapters, reach out to us and we'll send you another one.
Moving to an eSIM
Whether you're switching away from physical SIM cards or need to transfer your eSIM to a new device, this section covers both scenarios.
Before you get started
- Make sure two-factor authentication (2FA) is set up on your US Mobile account.
- Your device must be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi.
- You can move a line on an eSIM once per hour, up to 3 times a day and 6 times per 30-day cycle. These limits are in place to prevent fraud.
- Your line will be available after the eSIM is installed on your device.
The swap can't be reversed immediately. You'll need to swap the line back once the cooldown period is over.
Moving a line to another device in the app
- Go to the Lines tab and select your line.
- Scroll down to Line Settings. Under the Plan Management dropdown, select Change Device.
- If you already have a US Mobile line activated on the phone you want to use, select Activate on a saved device and select your phone.
Otherwise:
- If you're on Warp, choose Enter the IMEI of a new device, enter your phone's IMEI-2, and select Confirm.
- If you're on Light Speed or Dark Star, choose Activate a new device, enter your phone's make and model, and select Confirm.
- Choose eSIM and select Authorize Transfer.
- Use the Install eSIM link on your line page or in the confirmation email to finish the install. If that doesn't work, the QR code and manual entry options are in the same place. Give it 1–5 minutes and your eSIM will be ready to use.
Transferring eSIMs for multi-network lines
If you want to switch devices on a multi-network line, you need to move the primary line first.
- If you're moving the primary line to an eSIM, follow the eSIM transfer steps above.
- If you're using a physical SIM card, remove it from your old device and insert it into the new one.
Steps to transfer an eSIM for a multi-network add-on line
Once the primary line is on the new phone, move the add-on line using these steps:
- Sign in to your US Mobile account and select My Lines.
- Select the Add-On line.
- Select Change Device under the banner that says Device Verification Required.
- Select the device your primary line is on, then select Authorize Transfer.
- Once the transfer is complete, use the Install eSIM link on your line page or in the confirmation email to finish the install. If that doesn't work, the QR code and manual entry options are in the same place.
The add-on line must be on eSIM. If it's on a physical SIM, remove the SIM from the old phone and insert it into the new one.
