On August 1st 2014, President Obama signed a bill into law that again made it legal for consumers to unlock their cell phones in order to take them to a carrier that best suits their needs.
Who is eligible to unlock their phone through US Mobile?
US Mobile’s unlocking promotion is targeted towards college students and seniors. If you have a locked phone, and the contract with your current carrier has expired, you are eligible to unlock your phone through US Mobile. US Mobile will not be responsible for any fees or penalties that are charged by your current service provider if you unlock your phone while still under contract. If it so happens that you are ineligible for this promotion, we will cancel your request and reach out to you with the reason for cancellation.
Will my phone work on US Mobile after it has been unlocked?
As long as your phone can carry a SIM card, it should work on US Mobile after it has been unlocked. US Mobile uses 1900 MHz for HSPA+/4G connectivity. Your phone must have 1700 MHz (AWS) to get US Mobile LTE coverage.
How long will it take to unlock my phone?
It takes 5 to 25 business days to get a phone unlocked. In the case of Nokia Lumias, it might take up to 30 days.
Will I get a refund if my unlocking was unsuccessful?
Yes, you will get a full refund if we were unable to unlock your phone.
Why is there a fee for unlocking?
US Mobile charges a $15 unlocking fee, which will be refunded if you use our service for 6 months. We offer unlocking in order to facilitate customers to switch to US Mobile.
