Want to activate a T-Mobile prepaid eSIM on your phone? It’s genuinely quick once you know the screens. Here’s the full setup on iPhone and Android, plus how to fix the common errors. New to eSIM? Start with what an eSIM card is.
About the T-Mobile Prepaid eSIM app
The T-Mobile Prepaid eSIM app activates a new T-Mobile prepaid line on iPhones and Android phones that support eSIM. It’s handy for travelers heading to the U.S., anyone who wants a second line, or folks who want to try the network before committing. It’s prepaid only (postpaid uses T-Mobile’s own eSIM flow). Make sure you’re on a solid Wi-Fi or cellular connection and that your phone is unlocked if you didn’t buy it from T-Mobile. Not sure your phone qualifies? Check the eSIM compatible device list.

Bringing a number from another provider? Contact T-Mobile support to port it in. Moving between phones is its own thing, see how to activate an eSIM for the general flow, and our quick guide to setting up a SIM or eSIM with T-Mobile for the short version.
Re-downloading your T-Mobile eSIM
You may need to re-download the eSIM if you deleted it by accident, you’re moving to a new phone, or the first download got interrupted. Switching iPhones? You can move the number during Quick Start or in device settings. Otherwise call T-Mobile at 1-877-778-2106 with your prepaid eSIM number or Order ID and your account PIN handy.

Yes, if you didn’t buy the phone from T-Mobile it needs to be carrier-unlocked, and it has to support eSIM. Check the eSIM device list if you’re unsure.
Can I move my T-Mobile prepaid eSIM to a new phone?
Yes. Between iPhones you can transfer the number during Quick Start or in settings. Otherwise call T-Mobile with your prepaid eSIM number or Order ID and your account PIN to re-download it.
