How to Bring Your Own Android Phone to US Mobile
If you’re ready to switch to US Mobile but love your Android phone, you’re in luck! Whether you have a Samsung, Google, Motorola, or any other brand, bringing your device is a straightforward process. Follow these easy steps to get started!
Device Requirements for US Mobile
First things first—make sure your Android phone meets the basic requirements:
- Your phone must be unlocked. Not sure if it’s locked? Contact the carrier that sold you the phone and request an unlock code.
- Compatibility with US Mobile’s network. You can check if your device is compatible here.
- SIM card slot or eSIM capability. A lot of Android devices come with an embedded SIM (eSIM) which makes activation a breeze. If your device isn’t eSIM-capable, don’t stress—just follow the steps below to install your physical SIM card.
Installing US Mobile Settings on Your Android Phone
After you’ve got your SIM card, you need to install the US Mobile settings on your device. There are two ways to do this: Automatic Configuration and Manual Configuration. Let’s break it down!
Automatic Configuration
With automatic configuration, you should see a notification shortly after inserting your US Mobile SIM card. Here’s how it works:
- Once you activate your service, you’ll receive two messages in your messaging app. Open the Messages app.
- These messages confirm that your Internet and MMS Service settings are available. Some devices may have a direct “Install” option within these messages—if yours does, go for it!
- If you don’t see an install option, look for an envelope icon in your Notification Tray. Pull down on the Notification Tray and tap on the configuration message.
- Tap the configuration messages to view the details for each setting.
- Finally, tap Install and then hit OK to complete the process.
Manual Configuration
If for some reason the automatic setup doesn’t work on your device, don’t worry! You can set it up manually:
- Open the Settings app on your phone.
- Navigate to Mobile Networks.
- Tap on Access Point Names.
- Find and tap Internet to edit the current settings.
- Update the settings to the following:
- Name: Internet
- APN: endomobile
- MMSC: http://mmsc.usmobile.com
- MMS Proxy: proxy.usmobile.com
- Multimedia Message Port: 80
- MCC: 310
- MNC: 260
- APN type: default,mms,supl
- APN protocol: IPv4
- APN roaming protocol: IPv4
- APN Enabled: ON
- After you’ve updated those settings, you’re all set! Enjoy your data, and seamless picture and video messaging.
