Multi-Network lines

With the Multi-Network add-on, you can add up to two additional network lines to your primary line. This lets your phone connect to a different network whenever you want — for example, if Dark Star works great at home but not at work, you can add a Warp or Light Speed line for those locations.

Data usage is shared across all your lines, so if you're on an Unlimited plan, all your networks draw from the same unlimited allotment.

Eligible plans

The Multi-Network add-on is available on the following plans.

What's included with Multi-Network lines:

  • Unlimited data, hotspot, talk & text (secondary lines share premium data with your primary line)
  • Roaming is shared with the primary line if included on your plan or purchased as an add-on
  • Free trial: First two monthly cycles free when you activate
note

The annual add-on is only available if your primary line is on an annual plan.

Adding a line

Before adding a Multi-Network line, confirm your device supports multiple SIMs. Most iPhones released since 2018 support dual SIM (physical + eSIM or multiple eSIMs).

  1. Go to the Lines dashboard and select your eligible line.
  2. Select + Add Second Network in the Line Profile section.
If the option to add a second network isn't visible

The primary line either isn't on a current Unlimited Premium or Starter plan, or hasn't been installed on a device yet. Multi-Network add-ons require the primary line to be registered on the device.

  1. Choose an add-on plan and select Continue.
  2. Review payment details and Checkout.
  3. Select Start Activation, choose your preferred network, and select Activate.
  4. Scan the QR code to install the eSIM on your phone.

Phone number options

Your add-on line will have its own phone number separate from your primary line. You have a few options for what that number is:

  • Port in a number from another carrier: Select Customize my activation instead of Quick Setup to get the option to port in an existing number.
  • Use an existing US Mobile number: Contact our support team for help with this.

Managing your lines

Here's what to know about canceling, pausing, and making changes to your Multi-Network lines.

Canceling a line

To cancel a secondary line, turn off AutoPay on it. The line won't renew at the next billing cycle.

Snoozed lines

You can snooze a Multi-Network add-on line, but keep in mind that snoozed lines are detached from the primary line.

Removing an expired line

To remove an expired add-on line, select Delete on the expired line.

Changing your primary line's plan

Changing your primary line's plan may affect your add-on lines:

  • To a supported plan (e.g., Starter to Premium): No change to add-on lines if AutoPay is on.
  • To an unsupported plan (e.g., to a By-the-gig plan): Add-on lines will show Plan Review Needed. Update the upcoming plan on AutoPay, or the line will expire at renewal and can be reactivated on any plan.

Changing devices

Multi-Network add-ons are designed for use on a single device. If you need to change devices, complete the swap on your primary line first to establish the new device relationship. You can then move your add-on line to the new device since the primary line has been moved to the new device.

Billing

Here's how billing works for Multi-Network lines, including mid-cycle additions and plan changes.

Adding a line mid-cycle

You can add a line mid-cycle as long as your primary line has more than 2 days until its AutoPay renewal. The price is prorated based on the days remaining in the cycle (or remaining cycles, for annual plans), so your primary and add-on lines end up on the same billing cycle.

Switching from monthly to annual

After the free trial, the add-on renews monthly at $10/mo. To switch to annual, select Change Plan on the add-on line. The charge will be prorated to match the remaining cycles on your primary line's annual plan.

Switching between lines on your device

Your add-on line is active in the background at all times. Here's how you can switch between your lines or have multiple active on your devices:

Both lines work simultaneously for calls and texts, but your iPhone can only use one network for data at a time.

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data.
  2. Select the line you want to use for data.
note

You can also turn on Allow Mobile Data Switching to let your iPhone automatically switch to the other network when coverage is low.

Setting up a shortcut (iPhone only)

The US Mobile Network Switcher is an iOS Shortcut that switches between your two networks with a single tap or button press.

Requirements:

  • iPhone with iOS 14 or later
  • Both Multi-Network lines installed and active
  • Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) compatible device
note

Before setting up the shortcut, confirm both lines are showing as active in Settings > Cellular and in the US Mobile app.

Step 1: Download the shortcut

  1. Download the US Mobile Network Switcher shortcut, or scan the QR code on that page with your iPhone camera.
  2. Select Get Shortcut when the Shortcuts app opens, then Add Shortcut.
  3. When prompted, select Allow for Cellular/Network Access, Device Information, and Notifications.

Step 2: Set up quick access

iPhone 15 and later — Action Button:

  1. Go to Settings > Action Button.
  2. Select Shortcut and choose US Mobile Network Switcher.

iPhone 14 and earlier — Control Center:

  1. Go to Settings > Control Center and add Shortcuts.
  2. Open Control Center, long-press the Shortcuts button, and select US Mobile Network Switcher.

Other options: Add a home screen widget (long-press home screen > + > Shortcuts), use Siri ("Hey Siri, run US Mobile Network Switcher"), or assign it to Back Tap (Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap).

Using the shortcut

Activate it using your configured button or shortcut. A notification will confirm the switch and show the new network, signal strength, and data mode.

Troubleshooting

If the US Mobile Network Switcher isn't working as expected, try the following:

  • Shortcut not working: Check permissions at Settings > Privacy & Security > Shortcuts. If needed, delete and reinstall the shortcut to re-trigger the permission prompts.
  • Networks not switching: Try switching manually in Settings > Cellular to confirm both lines are working. If manual switching also fails, contact support.
  • Action Button not responding: Go to Settings > Action Button and confirm the shortcut is still assigned.
  • No notifications: Go to Settings > Notifications > Shortcuts and turn on notifications.
