Updated August 2026

Boost Protect costs between $8 and $18 a month, and then costs you again when you claim. Here are the real repair fees and deductibles, the 30-day filing window, and the 10-day return rule that can cost you the full price of a phone.

The short answer Boost Protect costs $8 to $18 per month depending on your device. Repair service fees run $29 to $99, and replacement deductibles for a lost or stolen phone run $40 to $349. Screen repairs are $29 with unlimited claims. File at protect.likewize.com/boostmobile or call (844) 834-5583. We checked this against Boost Mobile’s published support pages on August 5, 2026.

How much does Boost Protect cost per month?

Boost’s answer is a range: costs run anywhere from $8 to $18 per month, plus applicable taxes, depending on your device. Higher-value phones sit at the top of that range.

Boost doesn’t publish a full device-by-device table on its help page. For the breakdown by device tier and deductible it points you to protect.likewize.com/boostmobile or to Customer Care. Likewize is the company that actually administers the programme, and its site is the better source for how claims really work.

You can add it in your account online, in the Boost Mobile app, or by calling Customer Care.

Enrolled before August 10, 2023? You’re on a different plan. There are three programmes, and the older one has materially different terms. Boost Shield covers anyone who enrolled before August 10, 2023: a flat $7 a month, deductibles of $20, $50, $100 or $175 by device price band, and a limit of two approved claims in any rolling 12-month period across all claim types. Boost Protect and Boost Protect with AppleCare Services apply to enrollments on or after that date, and those are the figures in the rest of this guide. Check which one you actually have before assuming any number here applies to you.

What you pay when you actually claim

This is the part people don’t check until something breaks. The monthly premium isn’t the whole cost.

Claim typeWhat you payHow many
Screen repair$29Unlimited
All other damage repair$99Unlimited
Post-warranty malfunctionRepair fee appliesUnlimited
Replacement, lost or stolen$40 to $349, by device tier2 per rolling 12 months
Boost Protect fees and claim limits. Fee ranges from Boost’s help page; the limits and the $29 and $99 deductible labels are from the administrator’s own terms at protect.likewize.com, checked August 5, 2026.
Loss and theft are capped at two claims per rolling 12 months This is the detail Boost’s own help page leaves out, and it’s the one most likely to matter. The administrator’s terms are explicit: you get unlimited claims for screen break, accidental damage from handling and post-warranty malfunction, but only two loss or theft claims in any rolling 12-month period. So the coverage is generous for breaking your phone and finite for losing it.

One useful specific on screens: for iPhone 12 and newer, excluding the iPhone SE, screen repair covers the front or back glass. That’s better than it sounds, because back-glass repairs are otherwise expensive.

Your deductible is locked in at purchase This is genuinely in your favour. Boost sets your service fee and deductible when you enrol, based on the market price of the device at that time, and it stays the same afterwards even if the store price of your phone changes. So a deductible agreed on a flagship two years ago doesn’t get cheaper as the phone depreciates, but it doesn’t get more expensive either.

Run the numbers before you enrol. At $18 a month with a $349 replacement deductible, a lost phone costs you $565 across a year of premiums plus the deductible. Whether that beats buying a replacement outright depends entirely on which phone you have.

What Boost Protect covers

Boost lists four categories: loss, theft, accidental damage including liquid spills, and mechanical or electrical failure after your manufacturer’s warranty expires.

That last one matters more than it looks. Manufacturer warranties typically cover defects for a year. Boost Protect picks up mechanical and electrical problems after that, which is a different thing from covering you for dropping it.

The administrator’s wording on how much of this you can use is worth quoting, because it’s the clearest statement of the split: you’re eligible for unlimited claims for screen break, accidental damage from handling and warranty malfunction after the manufacturer’s warranty expires, plus two loss or theft claims in any rolling 12-month period.

You also get what Boost calls premium tech support, with repairs and service from authorised providers.

On timing: once a claim is approved, repairs can be completed as soon as the next business day, and if the device was lost, stolen or unrepairable, a replacement is shipped to arrive on the 2nd business day.

How to file a Boost Protect claim

  1. Have your 4-digit security PIN ready

Boost uses it to verify your account for protection claims, same as on a support call.

  2. File within 30 days

All claims, including damage, extended warranty issues and loss or theft, must be reported within 30 days unless state law requires otherwise. Miss the window and you’re outside the policy.

  3. Go through Likewize

Online at protect.likewize.com/boostmobile or by phone on (844) 834-5583.

  4. Make sure the primary account holder files it

Boost says claims should be filed by the primary account holder. If the phone belongs to someone else on a family account, that’s worth knowing before you start.

The 30-day clock is the one that catches people It runs from the incident, not from when you get round to dealing with it. A cracked screen you’ve been living with for six weeks is a claim you’ve already lost.

The 10-day return rule

If you get a replacement device for an approved damage or malfunction claim, you have to send the old one back. Boost’s rule:

The replacement arrives with instructions for returning your damaged or malfunctioning device. If you don’t return it within 10 days of receiving the replacement, you’ll be charged a non-return fee of up to the MSRP of the device at enrolment.

Up to full retail price. That’s the single most expensive mistake available in this programme, and it happens because a replacement phone arrives, you’re relieved, you get on with your life, and the old handset sits in a drawer.

Post it the day the replacement arrives. Not later.

Lost or stolen phone: the 60-day rule

Two separate things happen here, and both have deadlines.

First, call Boost immediately on (833) 502-6678 when you realise the phone is gone. Boost can take measures to protect your account. This is about stopping someone using your service, and it’s separate from any insurance claim.

You then have 60 days to get a replacement Boost’s words: if you report your device lost or stolen, you have 60 days to get a replacement. If you don’t replace it within that time, your account will be canceled and any remaining balance will be forfeited. So reporting it and then doing nothing for two months costs you the account and the credit on it.

If you have Boost Protect or Boost Protect with AppleCare Services, loss and theft are covered, and you file the claim through Likewize as above. Remember the 30-day claim window runs alongside the 60-day replacement window, and it’s shorter.

Boost Protect with AppleCare Services

For eligible iPhones there’s an upgraded tier. What it adds on top of standard Boost Protect:

Apple-certified repair or replacement using genuine Apple parts. 24/7 priority access to Apple Support, though Boost notes local telephone fees may apply and hours can vary. Unlimited incidents of accidental damage protection. Battery service coverage, which Boost specifies applies to batteries retaining less than 80% of original capacity. Access to service at Apple Retail stores worldwide, support from Apple experts by phone or chat, online support in 31 languages, and access to Apple Authorised Service providers in 105 countries.

Boost also notes there are no service fees or deductibles for mechanical failures under the Apple tier, and that replacement equipment may contain new or previously used genuine Apple parts that have passed Apple’s functional requirements.

If you bring your own iPhone, AppleCare Services may be available. If your device doesn’t qualify for the Apple tier, Boost may offer standard Boost Protect instead.

Adding it, moving it, and cancelling

QuestionAnswer
Can I add it to a phone I brought myself?Yes. BYOD devices are eligible, added at the time you buy your new service.
When does coverage start? At activation if you added it when buying the device or the new line. Immediately if you added it to an already-active device within 30 days of purchase.
Can I add it later?Within 30 days of purchase, yes. After that, no.
What if I switch devices?Coverage is tied to a specific device. Buy a new phone from Boost and you have up to 30 days to move it, by calling Customer Care to remove it from the old device and add it to the new one.
What if my account goes past due?Coverage is placed on hold while the account is past due and does not resume until your next paid billing cycle. It is not available on cancelled lines.
Can I cancel?Yes, any time, by contacting Customer Care.
The past-due gap is a real exposure If your account is behind and your phone breaks in that window, your coverage was on hold when it happened. It resumes on your next paid cycle, not retroactively. Worth knowing if you’re using the payment extension regularly.
