Most Boost account tasks are self-serve in the app. Two important ones are not, and one common request isn’t documented anywhere. Here’s what you can do yourself, what needs a phone call, and where Boost’s own help pages go quiet.
What you can do yourself, and what you can’t
Boost puts a decent amount in the app. The gaps are worth knowing before you go looking.
| Task | Self-serve? | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Change your password | Yes | App or web |
| Set or change your security PIN | Yes | App or web, under Security |
| Update personal information | Yes | App or web |
| Update billing information | Yes | App or web |
| Adjust privacy settings | Yes | App or web |
| Check usage and billing history | Yes | App or web |
| Request a payment extension | Yes | Dashboard, Request Payment Extension |
| Cancel a pre-order or backorder | Yes | App, Settings, Device Setup, View Shipments |
| Cancel a line | No | Call (833) 502-6678 |
| Reactivate a line | No | Call (833) 502-6678 |
| Get a port-out PIN | No | Call (833) 502-6678 |
The pattern is clear enough: anything that keeps you as a customer is self-serve, and anything that ends or moves the line is a phone call. Customer Care runs 8 a.m. to midnight ET, every day.
Changing your password or getting back in
Two paths depending on whether you’re already logged in.
-
In the app, if you’re already in
Tap Settings at the top right, then Security, then Change Password.
-
On the web, if you’re locked out
Go to the log in page and enter the email or phone number linked to your account. Choose Sign In with Password, then Forgot Password.
-
Watch for the code
If you used your email you’ll get a verification email. If you used your phone number you’ll get a text. Enter the code and follow the prompts to set a new password.
Your 4-digit security PIN
Boost uses a 4-digit security PIN to verify your account. You need it in two situations: calling Customer Care, and filing a phone protection claim.
Set it before you need it. Sorting out a forgotten PIN while trying to report a stolen phone is a bad time to discover you never set one.
In the app: Settings at the top right, then Security, then Change PIN.
On the web: log in, go to Settings then Security, and set up your 4-digit PIN under Account security.
Can I change my Boost Mobile phone number?
Here’s an honest answer rather than a confident-sounding one. Boost does not document a change-number process on its account management help pages. Those pages cover passwords, the security PIN, cancelling a line and reactivating a line. Changing your number isn’t among them.
So the reliable route is to call Customer Care on (833) 502-6678 and ask. We’re not going to invent a menu path that Boost doesn’t publish, because a wrong set of steps wastes more of your time than no steps at all.
Two related things Boost does document, in case one of them is actually what you want:
Keeping your number but leaving Boost. That’s a port-out, not a number change. Call Customer Care for a port-out PIN, one per line, and don’t cancel first. We’ve covered how to transfer your Boost Mobile number in detail.
Getting a new number on a new line. If you buy a device from Boost and take a new number, activation handles it and none of the transfer steps apply.
Cancelling a Boost Mobile line
One route: call (833) 502-6678. There is no self-serve cancel in the app or online.
Reactivating is the same number. Boost’s framing is that it would love to have you back, which is the expected sentiment, and the practical point is that a closed line can be reopened by phone.
Also worth knowing before you cancel: Boost says a payment applied to an account is not refundable, not transferable and has no surrender value. There’s no partial-month credit, so cancelling the day after a payment lands means that money is gone.
Tracking a Boost Mobile order
Boost sends an email with shipment information once your order processes. Processing itself can take up to 72 hours, excluding weekends and holidays, though orders placed before 2 p.m. ET can ship the same day.
| What you ordered | How it ships | Typical arrival |
|---|---|---|
| Device, Buy Now Pay Later account | 2nd Day Air, signature required | 2 to 3 business days after shipping |
| Device, No Contract account | UPS Ground | 3 to 5 business days after shipping |
| SIM kit only | UPS Ground | 3 to 5 business days after shipping |
Two constraints to plan around. Boost cannot deliver to a P.O. Box, so you need a street address. And device shipments on Pay Later accounts require a signature: if nobody’s there, the driver leaves a note and tries twice more.
To cancel a pre-order or backorder before it ships, that one is self-serve: app, Settings, Device Setup, View Shipments, Manage Shipment, Cancel Shipment. Or call (833) 502-6678.
There’s also Store-to-Door, where a Boost expert comes to your home to handle activation, number transfer and moving your data across at no extra cost. It’s limited to new accounts placing an initial device order on select premium devices, required with financing on those devices and optional without, and unavailable on existing accounts. You pick a 2-hour window at checkout.
Two things to be careful with
Turning autopay off. Boost notes that some account types and plan offers require autopay to remain on. If your price assumes autopay, switching it off can cost you that price. Check what you’re giving up first.
Letting the account go past due. Boost Protect coverage is placed on hold while an account is past due and doesn’t resume until your next paid billing cycle. So a phone that breaks during a past-due period wasn’t covered when it happened.

How do I cancel my Boost Mobile account?
Call Boost Customer Care on (833) 502-6678. Boost publishes no self-serve cancellation path in the app or online. If you want to keep your phone number, do not cancel. Request a port-out PIN instead and let the transfer close the line automatically.
Can I change my Boost Mobile phone number?
Boost does not document a change-number process on its account management help pages, which cover passwords, the security PIN, cancelling a line and reactivating a line. Call Customer Care on (833) 502-6678 to ask. If what you actually want is to keep your number and leave Boost, that is a port-out and needs a transfer PIN from the same number.
How do I find my Boost Mobile security PIN?
Your security PIN is 4 digits and you set it yourself. In the Boost Mobile app, tap Settings at the top right, then Security, then Change PIN. On the web, log in and go to Settings then Security, and set your 4-digit PIN under Account security. You need it to verify your identity on a Customer Care call or to file a protection claim.
How do I reset my Boost Mobile password?
Go to the Boost log in page and enter the email or phone number linked to your account, choose Sign In with Password, then Forgot Password. You will get a verification code by email or text depending on which you entered. If you are already logged into the app, go to Settings, Security, Change Password instead.
How do I track my Boost Mobile order?
Boost emails you shipment information once your order processes, which can take up to 72 hours excluding weekends and holidays. Device orders on No Contract accounts ship UPS Ground and usually arrive 3 to 5 business days after shipping. Buy Now Pay Later device orders ship 2nd Day Air, arrive in 2 to 3 business days, and require a signature.
Can I cancel a Boost Mobile pre-order?
Yes, before it ships, and this one is self-serve. In the Boost Mobile app go to Settings, Device Setup, View Shipments, Manage Shipment, then Cancel Shipment. You can also call Customer Care on (833) 502-6678.
Will Boost Mobile refund me if I cancel mid-month?
No. Boost states that once a payment is applied to an account it is not refundable, not transferable, not exchangeable and has no surrender value. There is no partial-month credit, so cancelling shortly after a payment means that money is not returned.
