Starlink Roam plans
We've partnered with Starlink to offer Roam — satellite internet that travels with you. Whether you're road-tripping in an RV, out on the water, or working from somewhere remote, Roam keeps you connected without tying you to a fixed address.
About Starlink Roam
Starlink Roam is a mobile satellite internet plan. Unlike Starlink Residential, there's no service address — it works wherever Starlink coverage is available.
- No fixed address needed: Use it at a campsite, on the road, on the water, or anywhere else. Roam goes where you go.
- Stays connected in motion: The dish works while you're moving, at speeds up to 100 mph on land.
- Worldwide coverage: Take it to any country where Starlink is available.
Plans
Choose from three Roam tiers based on how much you travel.
| Plan | High-speed data | Monthly price |
|---|---|---|
| Roam 100 GB | 100 GB, then unlimited low-speed | $55/mo |
| Roam 300 GB | 300 GB, then unlimited low-speed | $80/mo |
| Roam Unlimited | Unlimited | $175/mo |
All plans are month-to-month. No long-term contract required.
When you reach the high-speed data cap on a 100 GB or 300 GB plan, your service doesn't stop. You're automatically moved to unlimited low-speed data for the rest of your billing cycle — enough for calls, messages, and emails, but not video streaming or large downloads. High-speed data resets at the start of your next cycle.
Roam Unlimited speeds may be slower during busy periods. Residential subscribers have higher network priority.
Hardware
To get on Starlink's network, you'll need a compatible dish. Roam works with two options:
| Device | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Kit | $349 | RVs, boats, and larger setups |
| Starlink Mini | $199 promo / $249 retail | Cars, backpack travel, and lightweight portability |
Both support in-motion use at up to 100 mph. Hardware is purchased separately from Starlink when you claim your kit — it's not included in your monthly plan price.
Both dishes are designed for self-installation. The Starlink app guides you through placement and alignment — no professional installation required.
Getting started
Setting up Starlink Roam takes three steps: buy your plan, claim your hardware kit from Starlink, then activate using the Starlink app.
Buy your plan
- Open the US Mobile app and sign in to your account.
- Select Add a line and choose a Starlink Roam plan.
- Complete your purchase. AutoPay is required for all Starlink plans and is set up at this step.
Buying a plan doesn't ship your hardware. You need to claim your kit separately from Starlink.com — that's covered in the next step.
Claim your kit
After purchasing your plan, you'll receive instructions to claim your hardware from Starlink.com.
- Go to your Lines page and find your new Roam plan.
- Select Claim kit on Starlink.com and follow the link.
- Choose your hardware: Standard Kit or Starlink Mini.
- Enter your delivery address and complete payment on Starlink.com. Hardware costs are paid directly to Starlink — separate from your US Mobile bill.
- Starlink ships your kit to your delivery address.
Even if you already have a Starlink account, Starlink requires you to make a new one for your new Roam plan.
Set up your Starlink
When your kit arrives, use the Starlink app to activate it.
- Download the Starlink app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Sign in to your Starlink account and follow the setup steps in the app.
- Place your dish somewhere with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky.
- Once activated, your Roam line will show as active in your US Mobile account.
Activation typically completes within 24–48 hours of finishing setup on the Starlink side.
Where you can use it
Roam works on land, on the water, and internationally — with a few coverage rules depending on where you are.
On land
Roam supports in-motion use at up to 100 mph — built for road trips, RVs, and daily travel.
On the water
Roam 100 GB and Roam 300 GB cover inland waterways and territorial waters within 12 nautical miles of shore, with a limit of 5 consecutive days and 60 days per year in these waters.
For extended maritime use, upgrade to Roam Unlimited and turn on Ocean Mode. Ocean Mode extends coverage beyond 12 nautical miles, removes the 5-day and 60-day limits in territorial waters, and gives you higher network priority on the water. Turn it on or off in your Starlink account portal. Ocean Mode is billed directly by Starlink.
Ocean Mode is not currently available.
Internationally
Roam works in any country where Starlink is available. Continuous use outside your home country is limited to 2 months per trip. Returning home resets the counter for your next trip.
For certain international travel use cases, Starlink may ask you to complete a Travel Registration — including passport and photo verification. If prompted, complete this through Starlink directly. US Mobile cannot assist with identity document submission.
Managing your plan
You can change or cancel your Roam plan from your Lines page at any time.
Change plan
You can switch between Roam tiers at any time.
- Go to your Lines page and select your Roam plan.
- Select Change plan and follow the redirect to Starlink.com to complete the update.
Your new plan takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Standby mode
Not traveling for a while? Switch to Standby mode for $10/month. It keeps your account active at very low speeds — enough for firmware updates and basic messaging — so your dish stays current and ready when you need it again.
Standby mode is for stationary use only. You'll need an active Roam plan for in-motion use. To stop billing entirely, cancel your plan.
Cancel plan
- Go to your Lines page and select your Roam plan.
- Select Cancel plan and choose a reason.
Your plan stays active through the end of your current billing cycle. AutoPay can't be turned off on Starlink plans — cancellation is the only way to stop recurring charges.
Your hardware is yours to keep. There's no return required when you cancel a Roam plan.
Undo a cancellation
Changed your mind? You can undo a cancellation from your Lines page until your next renewal date.
FAQs
Common questions about Starlink Roam plans and hardware.
Do I need a fixed address for Starlink Roam?
No. Roam works wherever Starlink coverage is available — no service address required.
What's the difference between Roam and Starlink Residential?
Residential is designed for permanent use at a fixed home address and offers higher network priority. Roam is designed for travel. You can use Roam at a fixed location, but Residential is typically the better choice for home use.
Can I add Roam if I already have Starlink Residential?
Yes. Roam and Residential are separate plans and can both live on the same US Mobile account.
What happens when I hit my data cap?
Your service doesn't stop. You're moved to unlimited low-speed data for the rest of your billing cycle. High-speed data resets at the start of your next cycle.
Can I use Roam internationally?
Yes, in any country where Starlink is available. Continuous use outside your home country is limited to 2 months per trip. Returning home resets the counter.
Do I pay Starlink directly for anything?
Yes — hardware costs are paid to Starlink when you claim your kit. Your monthly Roam plan fee is billed entirely through US Mobile. You won't receive a separate monthly charge from Starlink for your plan.
Why does AutoPay have to stay on?
All Starlink plans require AutoPay. It can't be turned off. To stop recurring charges, you'll need to cancel your plan.
Is there a data cap on Roam Unlimited?
No. Roam Unlimited has no monthly data cap. Speeds may be slower during busy periods in congested areas since Residential subscribers have higher network priority.
Can I use Roam at a fixed location?
Yes. Roam works at a fixed location and functions like a standard broadband connection. That said, if you want a permanent home setup, a Residential plan typically offers better value and higher network priority.
