Spam detection and web filtering
We have features to help you protect yourself and your loved ones from spam, scams, and unwanted web content.
Spam Detect
With our Spam Detect add-on, you'll receive extra information to help you screen your calls and protect yourself against scams and unwanted spam.
How Spam Detect works
When someone calls you, you'll get helpful information alongside the call:
- Spam warnings — Calls from suspected spammers, robocallers, or fraudsters will be labeled as "Potential Spam" so you can decide whether to answer.
- Caller ID — When available, the caller's name appears for legitimate calls.
Spam Detect doesn't block any calls. You will still receive all your calls as usual and be able to screen them yourself.
Getting Spam Detect
- Sign in to the US Mobile mobile app or web app.
- Go to your Lines dashboard.
- Select your line.
- Under Add-Ons, select Spam Detect.

After subscribing, you can manage Spam Detect directly from your line's Add-Ons section:

- Cancel — Canceling removes the add-on from your line on your next renewal date.
- Renew — Manually renew the add-on from the same section if needed.
Common questions
Does Spam Detect block calls? No — it labels suspected spam callers so you can screen them, but it doesn't block any calls.
Why does it look different on another line? Features depend on your network, so experiences may vary.
Web Filtering
Our Web Filtering add-on helps keep lines safe and secure by blocking access to adult content on the web, helping keep family members under 18 within age-appropriate content.
How Web Filtering works
Web Filtering blocks access to adult web content when connected to the cellular network, showing an "Access Denied" page instead.
Web Filtering isn't foolproof. Make sure you're still taking additional steps to keep your family members safe online.
Content that Web Filtering blocks
Web spam and scams Phishing attacks, malware, command and control callbacks, web spam, proxy/anonymizers, potentially harmful domains, hacking, hate/discrimination, illegal downloads, weapons, and drugs.
Adult themes Nudity, sexuality, pornography, tasteless content, and child abuse content.
Safe Search Results are filtered on common search engines including Google, YouTube, Bing, and DuckDuckGo. When Web Filtering is on, Safe Search cannot be turned off.
Content that Web Filtering can't block
Web Filtering only applies to cellular network traffic. It can't block:
- Web browsing over Wi-Fi
- Email, text messages, or instant messaging
- Some third-party web browsers
- Content within apps themselves
VPNs and iCloud Private Relay Because VPNs reroute your web traffic, Web Filtering will not work correctly if iCloud Private Relay or another VPN is active on the device. Make sure these are turned off for Web Filtering to work properly.

Other ways to reduce or block spam
There are several ways to reduce or block unwanted spam calls.
Register for the national "Do Not Call" registry
You can register your number with the National Do Not Call Registry to reduce telemarketing calls. While this won't stop all spam calls, it can help limit legitimate telemarketing outreach.
Use third-party apps
Several apps can help identify and block spam calls. Some are free, while others require a subscription. Popular options include Truecaller, Hiya, RoboKiller, and Nomorobo.
US Mobile is not affiliated with these services. They are provided only as examples.
Use native phone features
Many modern smartphones include built-in spam detection and call filtering features. These features may vary depending on your phone model and software version.
- Google Pixel
- Samsung Galaxy
- Turn on Filter spam calls to automatically block suspected spam callers.
- The Call Screen feature can screen unknown callers and filter robocalls.
- Samsung phones include Smart Call, which flags suspected spam calls in the Phone app.
- You can also turn on Caller ID and Spam Protection to help block scam or unknown callers.
