Losing signals unexpectedly is indeed a hassle – a situation where no one wants to be in. However, with the advancements in technology around the world, we wish there was some way to get that one bar of signal to call up a friend or a family member in time of need.
Keeping this in mind, US Mobile is happy to give you an alternative to regular service in the form of WiFi Calling.
What is Wifi Calling?
As the term suggests, Wifi Calling is a feature that replaces regular network signals and allows you to make and receive calls and messages over your normal Wifi connection instead of your cellular network. It really helps in situations where you have weak signals or are in a dead zone area. With this feature enabled, you can forget about having dropped calls, or message sending failure!
Another cool thing about having this feature is that you can use it in place of international roaming for calls and texts. How amazing is that! You don’t have to pay heavy sums of money to be able to call your friends and family from anywhere in the world. You can do that by simply having a stable wifi internet connection and you’re good to go.
How does US Mobile assist you with Wifi Calling?
At US Mobile, we currently offer Wifi Calling on both our networks for Androids and iPhones. You need not pay extra for it. It simply uses minutes and texts from your base plan as normal but gives you that extra ability to use your service as normal.
To take advantage of Wifi Calling, all you need is a Wifi Calling compatible smartphone, a GSM LTE sim card, and an e911 address to get started. Once you activate your SIM card, it should work automatically. In case it doesn’t, you don’t need to worry about it at all. You can simply restart your device! Here’s how you can use this feature to make calls and texts.
If your Wifi Calling isn’t working, then you can always reach out to us and we will get you sorted. We are available 24/7!
How to enable Wifi Calling on your devices
Enabling the feature in your devices is not hard. You can simply follow the below-mentioned instructions and you are good to go!
How to turn on WiFi Calling on your iPhone
To set up Wi-Fi calling on most iOS, follow these steps:
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular.
- If your iPhone has Dual SIM, choose a line (below Cellular Plans).
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling, then turn on Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone.
- Enter or confirm your address for emergency services.
Your iPhone is now ready for WiFi calls.
How to turn on WiFi Calling on your Android
To set up Wi-Fi calling on most Android phones:
- Go to Wireless and Network Settings.
- Select More or More Networks
- Find Wi-Fi Calling and turn it on
Your phone is now ready for Wi-Fi calls. You’ll want to configure your Wi-Fi preferences for calling now.
Additionally, you can use third-party apps as well such as Google Voice, WhatsApp, Skype to make calls over a wifi connection but the catch here is that your recipient needs to have an active wifi connection as well for the calls or messages to go through. In this case, it is better to have a safer option relying on conditions.
Moving forward
With the emergence of technology in today’s world, Wifi Calling proves to be a feature that not only aids you at times of uncertainty but also enables you to stay in touch and connect with people or businesses other than the regular cellular networks. It eliminates the dependence on them and gives users more control over things as simple as communication.
When I attempt to toggle the wifi calling on, I get an error message that says: To allow wifi calling on this account, contact Verizon. I click “go to website” but the page does not exist anymore. My phone is unlocked and even says “no sim restrictions” but still I can not turn it on. Can someone help me?
WiFi calling is currently available on our GSM plans. We’ll be adding it to our Super LTE network soon.
When will wifi calling come to Super LTE? I live in a rural area an my signal is weak. I need to be able to use my home wifi for calls.
Super LTE isn’t great in basements, etc. Please add wifi calling option at some point to the superLTE network….
WiFi Calling is now live on Super LTE. Just enable the setting on your phone and set the Emergency Address.
Does the WiFi calling on Super LTE include iPhones or just Android devices right now?
Both.
Actually, I hope that you provide Wifi calling on Super LTE network. Although coverage is great, there are certain dead area in my house (like a basement / center of the house). Thank you!
