Mint Mobile vs Visible is the classic budget MVNO matchup: Mint on T-Mobile’s network, paid months up front, and Visible on Verizon’s, paid monthly with taxes included. We compared every plan, the real yearly cost and the one feature that splits them: hotspot. US Mobile wrote this comparison; how we did it is at the end.
This is the October 2026 edition of our Mint Mobile vs Visible comparison. For the version we keep up to date, see the main article.

The Real Pricing: Monthly vs Yearly
Mint’s whole model is paying ahead. Visible lets you do either. Here’s one unlimited line over a year, before taxes Mint adds for your address.
| How you pay | Mint Unlimited | Visible | US Mobile Starter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Month to month | Not offered | $300 ($25 × 12) | $300 ($25 × 12) |
| Pay for the year | $360 | $275 | $270 ($199 first year for new lines) |
| Taxes | Extra | Included | Included |
On unlimited, Mint is the most expensive of the three for a year, and the only one that adds taxes on top. Mint only pulls ahead if you drop to a smaller bucket: 6GB for $180, 17GB for $240 or 23GB for $300, all for 12 months. More budget picks in our cheap phone plans guide.
Network: T-Mobile (Mint) vs Verizon (Visible)
Mint says on its coverage page that it’s on the T-Mobile network, and Visible runs on Verizon’s. So picking between them is mostly picking between T-Mobile and Verizon where you live.
We don’t rate coverage ourselves. Check both maps for your address, and look at independent results from Ookla’s Speedtest reports and Opensignal for your area. Our T-Mobile vs Verizon comparison covers the two networks head to head.
Hotspot: The Biggest Difference
This is where the two really split. Every Visible plan includes unlimited hotspot, but at a capped speed: 5 Mbps on Visible, 10 on Visible+ and 15 on Visible+ Pro. That’s fine for email and browsing on a laptop, slow for video calls or big downloads. Mint Unlimited gives you 20GB of hotspot instead. US Mobile Unlimited Starter also includes 20GB, and Premium includes unlimited hotspot on one of its networks.
So: lots of light tethering, Visible. Shorter bursts of heavier use, a 20GB allowance. For heavy hotspot users, see the best unlimited data plan roundup.
The Third Option: US Mobile

How We Compared Mint Mobile and Visible
US Mobile wrote this comparison and is one of the carriers in it. Every price was read on the carrier’s own plan pages or FCC Broadband Facts labels on , and we saved screenshots of those pages. Mint’s network is from its own coverage page. Where a carrier doesn’t publish something, we say “Carrier does not say” rather than guess. The previous edition is the August 2026 edition, and the main article is updated as prices change.

Is Mint Mobile really $15 a month?

Can I switch from Mint Mobile to Visible or vice versa?
Yes, and you can keep your number. Your phone needs to work on the new carrier’s network: Verizon’s for Visible, T-Mobile’s for Mint. If you leave Mint partway through a prepaid term, check Mint’s refund terms first, because you’ve already paid for those months.
